Minimum Wage – effective 1 January 2023

According to a decree issued by the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Mr Kyriakos Koushos, the minimum wage effective in Cyprus from 1 January 2023 will be Euro855. After 6 months of successful employment, the minimum wage will be Euro940.

Exceptions

  • Domestic workers
  • Those working in agriculture
  • Those working in shipping
  • Those training or studying towards obtaining a professional degree
  • Those receiving from the employer food or housing: The employer may deduct an amount of 15% for food and 10% for housing from the minimum wage, provided both parties agree to this arrangement. The employee may opt out of such agreement within a specified time frame.
  • Those that are given preferential treatment under a customary agreement or other rules.

The Law requires weekly/monthly payslips to be issued by the employer. Non-adherence with the Law leaves the employer/Directors personally liable.
